With the help of our Jean Friday Charity Initiative we raised a total of $226 in March. This was donated to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp (http://www.holeinthewallgang.org/), “dedicated to providing ‘a different kind of healing’ to seriously ill children and their families, free of charge.”
What is the Jean Friday Charity Initiative? Jean Friday’s allow Russell Research employees to wear jeans on Friday in exchange for a minimum of a $2 donation to the charity of the month. Each month a Russell Research employee is randomly selected to pick a charity.
Join us this month by supporting our team as we raise money for the The Wild Bird Fund (http://www.wildbirdfund.org/) in memory of our Bill and JoAnn Kirk’s friend, Corey Soong, who passed away in March.
“Corey was an 18 year old on the autism spectrum. He was very capable – he took the subways all over NYC, had a part-time job with the Wild Bird Fund, and went to school part-time at Queens College. He was also a gifted artist. He was perhaps the person least aware of his gifts and abilities. With the impatience of youth, he did not recognize the progress he was making in overcoming his social deficits and lack of self-esteem. As with all developmental difficulties what he needed was time. His early death was a tragedy.” – JoAnn Kirk
Corey started interning at Wild Bird Fund in the summer of 2013 and according to his mother Darcy, working there was Corey’s dream come true and was the best thing that ever happened to him.
Give our employees support by motivating them to wear jeans every Friday this month. If you want to do more please help to reach the goal of raising $10,000 for the cause in Corey’s name here:
