IHUT Product Usage

A Razor Subscription Provider Wanted Feedback on Product Functionality

Objective

A razor subscription provider was introducing an electric body trimmer with interchangeable heads designed for face and body. Before going into full production, they wanted to test the functionality of the product with real consumers.

Approach

Russell Research designed an IHUT followed by an in-person IDI at a facility. Respondents were placed with a working prototype of the product and required to use the razor as they normally would for 1 week. At the end of the one week, the respondent came to a facility for an in-person interview to describe their experience with the product and identify any functionality red flags.

Outcome

The research successfully identified key areas of improvement around the user experience, resulting in a more intuitive product. A key feature was also optimized to make product usage easier. These areas were improved before the product went into full production.
